Bored in Quarantine?

Hi Groovers!

This is a chaotic time. I’m watching the country and state map fill up more each day with affected cases and hoping this curve starts flattening.

With all of the heavy-ness we’re experiencing, I’m going to keep this post light with activities I’ve started enjoying during quarantine that maybe you will too.

BIKING (OBVIOUSLY)

Luckily this doesn’t change much for those of us in counties that are not on lock down. Make sure to embrace these tips for cycling outdoors amid COVID-19 from Bicycling Magazine and get those miles in!

SELL YOUR CLOTHES AND STUFF

Do you have too many clothes in your closet or cycling gear you don’t wear anymore? Sell clothes on Poshmark or really anything on Facebook Marketplace.

BAKING

I made these flourless monster cookie bars two weeks ago and not a day has gone by that I don’t think about them.

COLOR

You can digitally color COVID-19 scenes from the NY Times, click here. Adult coloring books are also a nice way to unwind.

SUPPORT LOCAL BUSINESSES, BIKE SHOPS, RESTAURANTS

Many local businesses, including the ones along our Groove Tour Route need our help in these trying times. You can find out more about the Save Local Restaurant movement here. If it makes sense for you, purchasing gift cards, takeout, or sharing some of your favorite restaurants’ posts on your social media can help. Many bike shops are still open, offering new services like curb-side pick up for repairs or deliveries.

MATCH UP YOUR SOCKS

We know who you are.

GROUP FACETIME

Have family or friends you haven’t seen in a while? Start a group video chat.

ORGANIZE OR CONTRIBUTE TO DROP BOXES

First responders in Dunmore created a drop-off location for gloves, thermometers, masks, etc. There is a local shortage of needed supplies for first responders and hospital workers who may be called to help someone with the virus. I would bet most towns are in a similar position right now and can use an organized drop off location.

MAKE CANDLES

SO EASY. All you need is some soy wax, essential oils, wicks, glue (I use regular Elmers glue), and some recycled jars from your fridge. This box takes care of your wax and wicks. How to located here.

Stay safe and healthy!

Shannon
